Official Records and Lookup Contacts

Stanton County Sheriff's Office

For a Stanton County booking or arrest record, begin with the Stanton County Sheriff's Office and ask for the records custodian. The county does not publish a separate records telephone line or booking-photo desk.

804 Ivy Street
P.O. Box 635
Stanton, NE 68779
Main office: (402) 439-2212
Fax: (402) 439-2229
Directory email: msunger@stanton.net

The courthouse's listed public hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Call before visiting for a records inspection. Law enforcement operates around the clock, but the sheriff does not publish separate records-counter hours. Do not use this office for an emergency; call 911 instead.

Custody, bookings, and release information

Stanton County has no current county jail. The sheriff books and transports county prisoners, who may be housed in an area jail. For a current custody or release question, call the sheriff to identify the receiving jail and then use that facility's official process. The sheriff's Nebraska VINE information is another official route for custody notifications and status checking. The weekly bookings and citations page is a periodic publication, not a live roster and not a photo gallery.

Court case and traffic records

For a later case result, use the Nebraska Judicial Branch's JUSTICE case-information service rather than relying on the booking entry. County Court and Traffic Court contact: Katherine Armbruster, 804 Ivy St., P.O. Box 536, Stanton, NE 68779, (402) 439-2221. District Court clerk contact: Wanda Heermann, 804 Ivy St., P.O. Box 347, Stanton, NE 68779, (402) 439-2222.

State, federal, and immigration custody

A person sentenced to Nebraska state custody may be found through the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services incarceration record search. It does not replace the sheriff's record or show every county arrestee. For federal custody, use the Federal Bureau of Prisons inmate locator; for current immigration custody, use the ICE Online Detainee Locator System. Each system covers a different custody status, so an absent result does not itself prove that a person was never booked or is not held elsewhere.

Choosing the right path

  • For a booking photograph or local arrest record, use the sheriff's main office and request the records custodian. The home guide describes the public-record request path.
  • For a current location or release alert, start with the sheriff and the receiving jail, then review VINE if appropriate.
  • For a case disposition after an arrest or citation, use JUSTICE or contact the applicable county or district court clerk.
  • For a sentenced state prisoner, use the NDCS search. For federal or immigration custody, use the BOP or ICE locator.
  • For a warrant question, see Wanted Fugitives and verify any possible match directly with law enforcement.
